I LOVE makeup. I didn’t really start wearing it until I was in eighth grade (foundation, mascara, lipstick and lipgloss, etc.). That same year, I was finally aloud to go Black Friday shopping with my Grandma. We spent over an hour at the Bobbi Brown makeup counter in Neiman Marcus. It was so much fun, and something I will never forget.
My makeup routine has changed a lot over these past few years. I used to wear makeup because I wanted to cover up my skin. A few years ago, I wouldn’t even leave the house without makeup! I was so uncomfortable, but I am grateful for this experience because it is what led me to fall in love with organic skincare.
Kora Organics not only healed my skin, but it changed how I felt about makeup. I now love to wear makeup to subtly enhance my features, not cover them up. However, ever since I started using organic skincare, I have noticed the effect of makeup on my skin. I even tried the more natural/organic foundations, but they also caused breakouts and redness.
Over the past two years, I’ve tried several foundations, and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is my favorite thus far. I love that it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, is lightweight, has spf, doesn’t cover up my freckles, isn’t cakey/streaky, and my skin still has a clean feeling at the end of the day.
I purchased this foundation in December, but I stopped using it after a couple monthes. I believe so much in using organic skincare, and I felt bad that I wasn’t using a more organic/natural foundation. I tried two more foundations after that, and both caused breakouts. It made me realize how much I loved the Chanel Aqua! It is perfect for my sensitive skin, and doesn’t make my skin look cakey.
I now look at my makeup routine in terms of balance. I use as much organic/natural makeup as possible, but if another product works better with my sensitive skin, I will use it.
One natural makeup product that I absolutely love is the Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker powder foundation. It offers light coverage, but for my everyday makeup routine I apply it to my t-zone after applying the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. For concealer, I use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer (amazing concealer!). Lately I have been using Almay one coat lengthening mascara. I will do another post on mascara because I have another story, hehe 🙂 To finish my makeup, I almost always use a rose lipstick, lip balm, or lip gloss. The one I have pictured above is the Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Amazing Grace.
I hope you enjoyed this post, and I would love for all of you to share in the comments what your makeup routine is like!
