I will never forget the first time I tried to make a green smoothie. There were little bits of unblended kale in there, but I didn’t mind because I was so excited at having discovered my passion for health and wellness. I became inspired to learn as much as I could through reading and practicing making not just green smoothies, but all kinds of healthy recipes. I was fifteen years old, and since then, I have learned so much (and have become somewhat of a smoothie making witch doctor). And recently, I have rediscovered my passion for wellness through a tiny health issue I was able to solve through food. Food really is the best medicine!
Now, on to what this post is all about: I love starting my day off with a smoothie. It sets the tone for the day, and most of my smoothies taste like dessert in a glass (aka, my kinda breakfast). I won’t be able to take my blender to my dorm, so I am savoring these last days with my Vitamix (haha!). I made this recipe for the first time without the kale a few days ago (because sometimes I like to live on the wild side), but decided to try the recipe with the kale because I love the green color and leafy greens in my morning smoothie just make me feel so good! If you are a green smoothie beginner, I would suggest using spinach in lieu of the kale.
Maple Banana Green Smoothie
❤ 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
❤ 2 tablespoons of vegan, vanilla protein powder (my favorite brands are Garden of Life and Sun Warrior)
❤ 1 tablespoon of Justin’s Maple Almond Butter (this is the “secret” ingredient for this smoothie hehe)
❤ 1 handful of kale
❤ 1 medium banana
❤ a few shakes of cinnamon
❤ 5 ice cubes
Blend until smooth, and enjoy!
I hope all of you are having a lovely week. Thank you so much for reading, and I would love to hear your response in the comment section!
