Sephora Samples

Hi beauties!  I hope all of you had a safe and happy Fourth of July.  My mom and I hung around the house, grilled lots of vegetables, and watched Sex and the City at the end of day.  For me, most holidays come down to spending time with family and feeling grateful.

In the morning, before our day really got started, I ran to Sephora.  I haven’t been to Sephora since December, and I was so excited to see all of the new brands that they are carrying: Tata Harper, Drunk Elephant, and of course Kora Organics, to name a few.  I did go into Sephora with a mission to collect a couple samples of foundation to try as well as a face sunscreen (preferably a natural one that is not tested on animals).  I ended up walking away with two samples of Tarte foundations, a face sunscreen by Drunk Elephant, and I couldn’t help but ask for a sample of the new Kora Organics Noni Glow Face Oil.  I tried the oil for the first time last night and it is amazing.  Not only did it exceed my expectations, but I noticed a difference in my skin this morning (and that was after only one application).

I also want to attest to how generous Sephora is with letting customers have free samples of products!  It is the worst thing to either have a bad reaction to a product or simply have it not work out, and waste both money and the product.  With sensitive skin, I almost always ask for a sample of makeup before I purchase it.  My one exception is Kora Organics.  Every single Kora product I have used has felt lovely on my skin and worked beautifully (which is why Kora Organics appears on GGS so much).  In this case, I couldn’t wait anymore to try their new Noni Glow Face Oil.  My sample should tide me over until I purchase the full size!

Thanks so much for stopping by GGS today,

Carly xx

My mom sent me my makeup case with my entire makeup collection a few weeks ago, and as I was going through it, I came across a bunch of Wander Beauty products that I bought a while back but hadn’t really gotten around to trying.  I am so glad that I finally tried them, because I am in love!  I have the Wander Beauty eyebrow pencil, foundation stick, sponge, and the On-the-Glow Blush and Illuminator which is what this post is all about.  I will do a post later this month on my new foundation routine, because it has changed drastically (unlike my skincare routine, which is consistently Kora Organics).

On-the-Glow is a blush and highlighter all in one, is super hydrating, and easy to use.  Wander Beauty products are designed for the girl on-the-go, and their gorgeous yet practical packaging is perfect for throwing in your purse last minute.  Lindsay Ellingson is the co-founder and creative director of Wander Beauty, and I am a huge fan of hers, so I am not surprised by how much I love all of the Wander Beauty products I’ve purchased so far.

I also use the blush side of this product on my lips.  Their are four blush and highlighter options for On-the-Glow, and I have the soft pink/nude glow combination.  The long-lasting color allows me to only have to apply the product once or twice a day.  If you head over to the Wander Beauty website, you can browse the entire makeup line as well as watch tutorials and read application tips for each product.  I love their tutorials and tips because it has helped me learn about the versatility of the products, while ensuring that I apply them in the best way possible.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and stay tuned for more Wander Beauty posts this month!

Much love,

Carly xx

My Beauty Must Haves

This past weekend, my mom and I began buying stuff for college.  If you have never read my blog before, I am moving (two weeks from today!) to Savannah, Georgia to study fashion design.  I am an only child, so college is a new thing for both my parents and I, and we are not sure exactly what I ‘need’ for living in a dorm.  There are those easy to think of necessities, but I know that when I get down there I am going to think of so many things I need!  So far, we’ve bought a laundry basket, laundry soap, all purpose cleaner, clothing freshener, kleenex, a drying rack, towels, sheets, a pillow, a comforter, a mattress topper, a cozy backpack, a shower caddy, and paper towels.  This whole shopping experience got me thinking about my beauty must-haves: what I can’t live without.  Okay, I am sure I can live without them, but we all have those things that make us feel beautiful, comfortable, and together.  For me, these things are:

❤ my Kora Organics Three Step System for Sensitive Skin

❤ my Josie Maran Vibrancy foundation

Recently, I began trying to save a little by mixing up my skin routine (not using the three step system both morning and night), and my skin broke out worse than it has in years.  I really do have truly sensitive skin that cannot handle most products.  Even more so than appearance, it is important to me for my skin to feel comfortable.  When you have sensitive skin, it is easy for environmental factors to irritate your skin.  The Kora Organics Three Step System for Sensitive Skin contains products that avoid heating the skin, while soothing and protecting it at the same time.  Needless to say, I’m back to using the system both morning and night, and whenever my skin needs a little boost.  As for the foundation, this is a fairly new product for me, but I wouldn’t post about it if I didn’t believe in it 100%.  Never before have I used a foundation that is amazing for my sensitive skin, free of harmful ingredients, and does what a foundation is meant to do.  Thank you, Josie!

I would love to know what you all think in the comment section!  What kinds of things would you recommend buying for college?  Any tips and advice are much appreciated!  And of course, what are your beauty must haves?

Thank you so much for reading my blog today!!

“un” cover-up

In middle school, when I first began wearing makeup, it was for all the wrong reasons.  I felt extremely self-conscious, and it got to the point where I wouldn’t even go to the grocery store without full-on makeup.  My goal was to cover up the way I looked, or even go so far as to change it.  My view of makeup, and myself, truly began to change when I read Treasure Yourself by Miranda Kerr.  It was also the time I began using Kora Organics and practicing positive affirmations.

I love makeup.  However, makeup is now fun whereas then, makeup gave me a little anxiety.  I am now discovering products that subtly enhance my features,  rather than cover them up.  You are beautiful just as you are!

Today, I want to share with you all my favorite concealer, “un” cover-up by RMS Beauty.  RMS Beauty is an organic makeup and cosmetics company founded by Rose Marie Swift.  All of her products contain just a few, organic ingredients.  I have been using this concealer for a few years now, and I absolutely love it!  Here is how I use the RMS Beauty “un” cover-up:

❤ a little under my eyes instantly makes me look awake

❤ around the nose

❤ on the occasional blemish (the main ingredient in this concealer is coconut oil, which does wonders for acne because it is anti-bacterial)

I just love the whole message behind RMS Beauty.  It is a brand that makes me feel good when I use it.  Also, the packaging is beautiful.  They use high quality ingredients, and only a little bit of each product is needed to be effective.  There are a few other products that I use by RMS Beauty, and I will share those in a separate post!

It is a beautiful feeling to go makeup free, but I really do love makeup.  It is like playing dress up!  I would love to know all of your thoughts on this.  To me, there is nothing more fun than giving each other product recommendations and swapping advice!

My favorite piece of makeup advice is actually from Aunt Becky on Full House.  DJ was just starting to wear makeup, and she was using a lot (a lot a lot).  Aunt Becky gave her a makeup lesson, and told her, “The secret to wearing makeup is making it look like you’re not wearing any.”  I think of this quite often when I’m applying makeup for the day.  It is also one of my favorite scenes from Full House!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend, and thank you so much for reading!
